MAP sensor intake manifold nipple

Hello,

Congratulations on this great project!

My engine is a Chevy 261 L6 with siamese intake. Just like on this picture https://forum.ih8mud.com/attachments/gm261-jpg.843263/
Under intake manifold there is a heating system from exhaust. And on side there is a vacuum tube for valve cover vent.

Where should I install the MAP sensor tube nipple?

Another picture of engine side with intake manifold. https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dDf639WyIKo/ ... 2Bmkgf.jpg

The pictures are not mine, but show same type of engine.

Re: MAP sensor intake manifold nipple

Hello and welcome.
I think somewhere under the throttle.
Wait for other pieces of advice.
Do you need for injection or ignition only?
Hasn't the factory distributor got a canister for vacuum advance?
Bye.

Yes. Best place is where all cylinder manifolds tie together.

Re: MAP sensor intake manifold nipple

Hello.
If there is enough room, if it isn't too thin you can fit a nipple into the carburator spacer.
3 ports for intake and 4 for the exhaust?
I don't understand very well what happens on siamese ports.

Is your engine stock or modded?
Bye.

Re: MAP sensor intake manifold nipple

Thank you all for the prompt answers!

My engine is stock from 1976.
First I'll try with ignition. Injection only in future.
I'm going to use 3 double coils for wasted spark and a 60-2 trigger wheel.

This is a picture of my carburator model. With vacuum advance nipple right under throtlle. https://bit.ly/2w8orRO
Do you think I will get right pressure reading from this nipple?

About siamese ports. You are right, 3 intake for 6 cylinders and 4 exhaust.

This is a picture without the manifolds. The circle ports are for intake on cylinder 1, 2 and 3, 4 and 5, 6.
The square ports are for exhaust on cylinder 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6. The 1 and 6 are alone.

Re: MAP sensor intake manifold nipple

Hello.

I found that picture. It already uses vacuum advance.
The nipple under the throttle is right for intake manifold vacuum.
Don't worry for the signal, six big cylinders, a common manifold and a throttle only give a strong signal, high vacuum.
Bye.
