Using VR sensor in distributor

Some Toyotas come with a VR sensor in the distributor. I was wondering if it's possible to wire up the ECU to use that instead of a Hall sensor in the distributor?

Can you show a photo of the corresponding trigger wheel?

Re: Using VR sensor in distributor

I don't have a picture but the trigger wheel has 24 teeth, I will modify it to 4 teeth as per the manual.

However if you absolutely require a picture I can open it and take one.

Ok.
How many sensors are in your distributor? 1 or 2?

Yes, it is possible. VR sensor should be connected to CKPSx inputs. Edge of pulse should appear 60° BTDC (or near to it).

Re: Using VR sensor in distributor

There are 2 wheels and 3 VR sensors. I will try as-is and if I get noise issues (happens quite a bit with people who use megasquirt in the same configuration) then I will remove the other 2 sensors.

Thanks, will try it out this weekend.

Re: Using VR sensor in distributor

I recommend you to make a photo of trigger wheels inside your distributor and post it here. There is a possibility that SECU firmware may not support your "native" trigger wheels.
