Hello everyone, we are three students from Belgium using the SECU-3T for our thesis.
Our engine is a Toyota Yaris 1SZ-FE with VVT-i. We are trying to start the engine but keep getting the synchronisation error 21. This is a problem because we aren't getting any ignition signal due to this error.
We are certain that our trigger wheel is 36-2. We get a good CKPS signal and the SECU reads it as well. We also use the Phase sensor, which is a 4-1 wheel.
The weird thing is that REF_S is active in the CKPS parameters tab even though nothing is connected to that input.
We hope you can help us and would be very grateful.

Hi,
Current versions of software don't support 4-1 camshaft wheels. Only one pulse per cycle is supported.

Thank you for your answer! We've been looking for the cause of the error for 4 weeks now.
Is the first pulse the most important one or is any pulse per cycle enough?

This is our new signal now. We keep getting the synchronisation error 21. Maybe this is normal on startup?

Do you use screened cables for CKP and cam sensors? Mentioned cables must be screened.
Also, I see your camshaft sensor is VR type (outputs sine wave). This type of sensor is recommended to be connected to REF_S1 & REF_S2 inputs. RES_S input should be reassigned to PS (I/O remapping parameters in the SECU-3 Manager). Remapping of REF_S to PS is available since version 4.6 of software.
Of course, you can try to leave cam sensor connected to PS, but in this case signal conditioner is recommended.
